About Luca

“I am Devoted to serving my Country, City and Community”

Hi, my name is Luca Muir Anderson and I am running to be your local Councillor for Shenton Park (South Ward, City of Subiaco). I am devoted to serving my Country, City and Community. I currently serve in the Royal Australian Armoured Corps in the Australian Army Reserves, and volunteer in the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Surf Life Saving WA, Disaster Relief Australia and RSL WA.

Why I’m Running
“I want everyone in Subiaco to feel that they live on the Best Street, in the Best Suburb, in the Best City, in the Best State in the Best Country in the world”
*To make your Priorities the Priority of the City
*To Serve my Community and Challenge Myself every single day
*To Advance the Programs, Prestige and Community of Subiaco
*To Preserve the Village Feel and Green Spaces of Subiaco

The choices of the Community should always be the force directing the future of the City. If elected, I will follow the will of the community by reaching out and asking for your opinions by popular vote. For example, if there is a proposed redevelopment of an area and Council is to deliberate on it, I will create a community poll and if the residents choose to reject that redevelopment, then I will vote against it.

Rather than starting off by proclaiming my policies and trying to convince you to support them, I want to know what your policies are, and the policies shared by the most amount of people will be my Top Priority. You, the Community, will decide the policies of the City, not me, the individual.

Instead of putting the burden on you to reach out to your elected representatives, I will be proactive and reach out to you. I will regularly upload short update videos about aspects of the City and remain in contact with you as much as possible.

I also pledge, if elected, to spend $20,000 of my Councillor salary per year on community projects and scholarships for local Subiaco youth. ($80,000 in total over a period of four years).

My Connection To Subiaco

My family has been connected to the Subiaco community for three generations, starting when my Grandfather, Keith Anderson was born here in 1917. I myself grew up in Shenton Park, studied at Shenton Park Playgroup, Rosalie Primary School, Scotch College and played soccer for Subiaco AFC. As a teenager I moved away with my family to finish my schooling until returning to Shenton Park alone in 2023 upon joining the Army. As such, the life of Shenton Park, village feel and especially Lake Jualbup are of vital importance to me, which is why I chose to return to Shenton Park as soon as I was 18, because I missed it so much.

My Previous Experience

I am passionate about preserving and commemorating Australia’s military history. At the age of 18, I founded The 44th Australian Infantry Battalion Memorial Inc., a registered charity under the patronage of His Excellency, The Governor of Western Australia. As Director, I have led the initiative to establish a physical and virtual war memorial for the 44th Battalion AIF (a local WA unit which suffered over 1,700 casualties in World War One). Other historical projects have included creating historical websites (such as wacolonialmilitary.com when I was 16) and publishing a book detailing acts of gallantry made by local soldiers in the half-forgotten Second Boer War 1899-1902. These historical creations saw me nominated for the 2025 WA Young Leadership Award and to receive a certificate of recognition from the Governor.
